Drug Abuse

Recently the big news from China is that the son of Hollywood actor Jackie Chan has been arrested on drug-related charges.

Jaycee Chan, the 31 years’ old actor and movie star from Taiwan China Kai Ko are on their official microblog. Since the beginning of this year, more celebrities are found drug abuse, like Li Daimo, Ning Caishen, Gao Hu, now come to Jaycee and Kai ko. Their arrest comes amid an ongoing crackdown on drugs which has already netted several celebrity figures.

In June, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for "forceful measures" to tackle illegal drug use.

By arresting the son of one of the country's most famous actors, Chinese authorities are sending a clear sign that drugs will not be tolerated, 

A government anti-drug advisor told the Associated Press news agency that Chinese celebrities were being targeted because of the "huge influence" their behaviour had on "their large numbers of fans".

Beijing Municipal Anti-Drug Office deputy director Jin Zhihai however, said that police were not specifically targeting celebrities.

"If there is an increased crackdown on drugs, the number of celebrity offenders will also rise," he told the Beijing Times on 14 August.

Last week, 42 artist management agencies in Beijing signed an agreement with police pledging not to recruit celebrities with reported drug use problems.

Except the Chinese celebrities, Japanese actor like Sakai also was found drug abuse with her husband. The South Korean actor Joo Ji Hoon also was one of them.

Many people are addicted into drug, and the popularity has led a heating increase in celebrities.

As a celebrity, they suffer a lot while get what they want. So the great pressure prompts the abuse of drug. However, there are some who take the drug just for fun. Such behaviour doesn’t hurt the people who support them, but show more opportunities to the drug traffickers.

Anti-drug is an international action aroused to fight for health. Cherishing life away from drug is what we need to do.
